Get started with Fee.

Fee is the app where you get help from AI by writing to it in plain language. In the browser you can ask questions, get texts written, plan and make a simple website. The desktop app for Mac and Windows can also create and change files on your computer. This guide shows you how to get started.

Updated

Log in and open Fee.

Follow the link in your invitation email and log in. Open Fee in your browser at flatfee.one/app. If you have installed the desktop app for Mac or Windows, you can use it instead.

Working with files in the desktop app

You log in with Google, or with a code we email you. The code is valid for 15 minutes, and you stay logged in for 30 days.

Has the email not arrived? Look in your spam folder first, and give it a few minutes. Still nothing? Write to hello@flatfee.one and we will send a new one.

Next time, open flatfee.one/app and save it as a bookmark, or on your phone’s home screen, so it is one tap away. Fee works in the browser on your phone, and you can photograph a letter straight from the message field. Your chats in the browser are saved to your account, so you can continue where you left off.

Ask your first question.

Type your question in your own words, the way you would ask a friend who is good with this sort of thing. Here are three to try:

  • “Explain what this letter means, and what I need to do about it.”
  • “Help me write a reply to this email.”
  • “Compare these two electricity contracts.”

Read the reply, and ask Fee to change anything that is not quite right. You can go back and forth until it is right.

Sometimes Fee asks a short question back and shows a few answers you can tap. Tap one, or write your own answer.

Attach a letter or a photo.

Press the plus button next to the message field to add a photo or a document to your question. Fee can read photos and PDF files, including from a phone. Photos and other images you attach can be processed outside the EU. You can attach up to 10 files at a time, each up to 20 MB and 50 MB together.

A scanned letter saved as a PDF works too. Fee reads the first 10 pages and tells you if it could not read everything.

Find an earlier answer.

Press Search in the sidebar to look through your earlier chats, so you can find what Fee told you before without scrolling through everything. When you open Fee, the card “Continue where you left off” takes you back to your latest chat with one click.

Memory.

With memory, Fee remembers things about you between chats, like your name or a project you are working on, so you do not have to explain it again every time.

Memory is off until you turn it on. Under “Memory” in Settings you turn it on, see everything Fee remembers and turn it off again.

If an answer is not right.

Write “that is not right, check again”, press the thumbs-down under the answer, or write to us. Fee can be wrong, so check important details, such as dates and amounts, against the source.

The legal parts of Fee, such as letter templates, cases and tips about your rights and deadlines, are suggestions, not legal advice. Always check with a lawyer, adviser or the authority concerned before you send something or act on it.

Delete a chat or your account.

You delete a chat in the menu by the chat. To delete your whole account, open Settings in Fee and choose “Delete account”. You can choose “Delete in 7 days (you can undo)” or “Delete now”. You do not need to write to us.

Download your data.

Under Settings, choose “Memory”, then “Export everything” under “Your data”. You get a zip file with your chats, your memory and what you have saved from Fee’s answers, as ordinary files.

Change language.

Fee answers in the language you write in. The app and the web are in Swedish, English and Spanish, and you change the language under Settings.

Browser or app

Start in your browser. Ask questions, understand letters and documents, write, plan and make a simple website. There is nothing to install, and you can use Fee on your phone too.

Do more in the app for Mac and Windows. There, Fee can also create and change files on your computer, for example to build a website. You choose which folder Fee may work in.

If you reach the daily limit.

During the beta there is a limit on how much you can use Fee each day. If you reach it, Fee tells you when you can continue. The beta is free of charge.

If something does not work.

Reply to the email with your invitation, or write to hello@flatfee.one. Tell us what you were trying to do and what happened instead, and we will help you sort it out. We will reply as soon as we can.

Start with what you want to get done.

Beta at no cost. All you need is your email address.
