Safeguards and limits in the beta.

We do not claim that the private beta meets every security requirement or every rule about where data may be processed. Read on and decide whether what you want to work with belongs in Fee today.

Only bring what may be sent on.

If something is covered by strict rules on confidentiality, contracts or where the data may be handled, for example at work, check those rules before you use the beta. Fee’s safeguards in the beta do not replace your organisation’s own security decision.

How we handle your data

In the app: what should stay on your computer.

Passwords, keys, login details and files that are kept out should never be sent with your request. Fee is built to keep them out and to hide them if they turn up, but you still need to choose the right folder and not paste secrets into what you ask.

What can be sent on.

Fee decides how to handle each step of your request. Some of the processing can happen outside the EU, and images you attach can be processed outside the EU. Fee does not currently offer an option where everything is processed inside the EU.

Which companies handle your data

You approve the big steps.

In the desktop app, Fee works in the folder you choose. When an important decision or a new permission is needed, Fee should stop and explain what it is waiting for. Everyday steps follow the mode you picked.

A report in the app.

When Fee works in a folder in the app for Mac and Windows, the report afterwards shows when it happened, what changed, which checks ran and what you approved. It has a reference number and a checksum. A checksum is a short code calculated from the content, and it changes if anything in the content changes, so the report can be checked later. The report does not contain the full text of your request, Fee’s raw answers, cookies or secret values. Fee in the browser has no such report.

Problems and questions.

If Fee is down or not working as it should, it is shown on the status page. If you think something is wrong with security, or you have a question about your personal data, write to hello@flatfee.one.
